God Gave It
Joshua 2:10:11 (NKJV)
For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.

When the nation of Israel approached Jericho, they were faced with a massive thick wall made of huge stones. They saw giants on the inside who were mighty men of war, and their king was also a fierce man of war. This ancient border city housed Canaan's mightiest forces within a wall that looked impassable.

To say Jericho was scary to the strongest of armies is an understatement, and Israel was hardly a trained military force. Nevertheless, as Joshua looked in awe at this fortification called Jericho, the Lord said to him, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand..." (Joshua 6:2).
"I have" is past tense; God had already given Joshua the city of Jericho before Israel came near to it. In fact, He had given it to Israel's fathers forty years before. When Moses had sent the twelve spies into the Promised Land forty years earlier, ten returned in fear because there were "giants" in the land. However, two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb returned saying, "We can take the land because God has given it to us."
What do you need today that God has already given? Will you be like the ten spies who look at the "giants" of your circumstances or will you be like Joshua and Caleb, who boldly declare "We will take what belongs to us because God has given to us"?
