Jersey Shore Beach Report: A Sunny Weekend Awaits

JERSEY SHORE, NJ — It's the next-to-the-last official weekend of summer, and it looks like it will be a great time to squeeze in a couple more beach days before Labor Day arrives.

Here's a look from Patch at the weekend beach conditions for Aug. 25-27, whether you're looking to just soak up the warmth or take a dip in the ocean.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies at the beach on Saturday and Sunday, a welcome relief from the cloudy, rainy weather of Friday. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Rip current risk is moderate this weekend, according to the weather service. That means they are likely in the surf zone, so be aware and listen to the lifeguards. Related: Rip Currents In NJ: What To Look For, How To Survive Them

Friday: Scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. and into the evening. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. In the evening, low temperatures around 73 degrees.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 81. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the morning. Winds will be calming to 5 mph after midnight. Partly cloudy in the evening with a low of 69 degrees.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. North wind around 10 mph. Partly cloudy overnight with a low around 68 degrees.

Monday-Thursday: Mostly sunny Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly cloudy, with a chance of showers (40 percent Tuesday, 30 percent Wednesday). Sunshine again on Thursday with temperatures in the mid-70s.

JELLYFISH

Clinging jellyfish have dissipated, with no new samplings posted on the state Department of Environmental Protection's clinging jellyfish map of checks for the dime-sized clinging jellyfish.

Bay nettles have been the issue for the last several weeks in bays and lagoons, though there have been few posts about them in the last week in the New Jersey Jellyspotters Facebook group.
