Local Retirement Community Goes All Out for Holidays

Lakewood's Harrogate Gets in the Spirit of the Season

December has been a busy month for all of us. Harrogate, a local senior living community, is no exception, with residents and staff taking part in a variety of festivities, and also sharing the love of the season with the less fortunate.

From parties with family members to a holiday cookie event, there’s been seasonal cheer almost daily at Harrogate. The yearly toy drive, benefiting Catholic Charities has also been in full swing. Each department, from marketing to human resources, has adopted a child who might otherwise not have as bright a holiday season. Five boys and five girls were adopted in all.

Additionally, there’s been an employee appreciation event, hosted by the residents of Harrogate, to celebrate the bond between residents and staff. And, of course, no season would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus. The jolly old elf took a couple of breaks from his busy holiday schedule to grace the halls of Harrogate with his presence…and presents!

“The holidays are always a busy time around here,” said Harrogate Executive Director Charles Benjamin. “These events, whether for charity, staff or residents, remind us of the importance of sharing love with family, friends and people in need not just this time of year, but always.”
