Long-Term Addiction Recovery Support Program Launches In Toms River

The Intensive Peer Recovery Program of CFC Loud N Clear Foundation aims to help people avoid pitfalls that lead to drug addiction relapses.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A local foundation dedicated to helping people break their addiction to drugs has launched a new program, now available in Toms River, offering extended support to help prevent relapses.

The CFC Loud N Clear Foundation, a Monmouth County-based organization dedicated to assisting families dealing with substance use and mental health issues, has launched its Intensive Peer Recovery Program.

"With an unwavering dedication to extended aftercare and affordable housing, CFC recognized the need for accessible recovery support for individuals struggling with substance use and mental health issues," officials with CFC said in a news release.

The Intensive Peer Recovery Program is a four-week, non-clinical program offered during the daytime that aims to be a bridge for people who are moving from clinical care into a recovery community organization, the release said.

"Despite thousands of clinical programs aimed at helping individuals struggling with addiction and their families, there remains a revolving door of pain and agonizing struggle," the CFC officials said.

Statistics from the National Institute on Drug Abuse indicate that about 85 percent of people relapse within a year, and 66 percent return to using drugs within a few weeks of completing treatment, the statement said.

Relapses happen because people are struggling with stress, anxiety, and depression, and because of "a lack of self-confidence, responsibility, purpose, motivation, passion for recovery, inability to cope with emotions, socialization, and boredom," the news release said. "Relapse prevention is key to long-term recovery, and effective support programs can address the underlying causes of addiction."

The intensive peer support program provides "multiple pathway education, life skills workshops, employment skills, and recovery action (WRAP) plans to teach emotional intelligence, responsibility, accountability, self-confidence, and more," the statement said.

It provides certified peer recovery specialists to help guide participants toward long-term recovery "by supporting their sobriety and providing a sense of hope, belonging, and confidence," the CFC statement said.

The program is open to anyone coming out of clinical treatment or detox, anyone seeking "an introduction to a recovery lifestyle, struggling to stay sober, who is in need of a personal one-on-one guide to learning about multiple pathways."

It is open to anyone with limited means or no insurance, officials said.

Enrollments are being accepted now. The program offers support Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
