Mammano Statement on Charlottesville

District 10 Senate Candidate Emma Mammano's Statement on Charlottesville

The recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia, serve as a reminder that hate remains deeply rooted in our country. The violence that ensued Friday reveals the distorted thinking that has been festering and is spreading among these individuals who proclaim to be patriots. It represents decades of hate and a fear of the progressive values that are increasingly being embraced in our nation. I strongly condemn the hatred and violence expressed by these marchers. Their actions simply fan the flames of my inner fire to fight ceaselessly for justice and peace. Though the violence has ceased in Charlottesville, the nation remains divided. Now we must decide how to respond; how to stand against the darkness. Now we must recommit ourselves to being vessels for equality. Now we must redefine LOVE as a choice to take action when darkness and fear rise up around us. I vow to bring truth, inclusivity, and justice to Trenton, and to stand up against hate in any form. I promise to join in solidarity with individuals, communities, and leaders who spread tolerance, peace, and love. Together we rise. As always, your feedback will be valued and appreciated, especially at this critical moment for our country.
