Man Flew To NJ For Sex With 14-Year-Old From Ocean County: Prosecutor

The man, from Louisiana, was arrested at the airport; he had been talking to the teen through a messaging application, the prosecutor said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Louisiana man has been charged with sexual assault after he flew to New Jersey to have sexual contact with a 14-year-old from Toms River, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced.

Spencer W. Caudle, 34, of Prairieville, Louisiana, has been charged with sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, luring and enticing of a child, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Caudle was arrested Friday at Newark Liberty International Airport, when he arrived from Louisiana to have sex with the teen for a second time, Billheimer said.

Caudle first traveled to the Toms River area on May 27 and had sexual contact with the teen, whom Caudle had been communicating with through the Whispr messaging application, Billhimer said.

He is being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, awaiting a detention hearing, Billhimer said.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and High Tech Crime Unit, Toms River police, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Freehold Township Police Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, and United States Air Marshals Service combined on the investigation.
