Man Sought In Brutal Beating Of Toms River Man Turns Himself In

Chad Andresen, 18, of Beachwood, turned himself in to Monmouth County law enforcement, Toms River police confirmed.

Toms River police have confirmed a report that the Beachwood man being sought in the beating last week of a Toms River man has turned himself in.

The Shore News Network reported that Chad Andresen, 18, of Pacific Avenue, turned himself in to a Monmouth County law enforcement agency.

Toms River police spokesman Ralph Stocco confirmed that information Monday afternoon. But exactly to which Monmouth County law enforcement agency and when Andresen turned himself in is unclear, as Stocco said Toms River police were not notified of Andresen’s surrender by the other agency.

Andresen reportedly arrived at the Monmouth County law enforcement agency with an attorney and a bail bondsman in tow, according to the Shore News Network.

Andresen is charged with one count of aggravated assault in the incident that occurred last Friday, Stocco said, when a fight broke out about 1 a.m. among a large group of people who had spent most of Thursday drinking and hanging out in Berkeley Township. They had moved the party to Toms River late Thursday evening and were in the area of Haines Road and Cedar rive when the fight broke out.

Andresen is accused of sucker-punching the man in the back of the head, Stocco has said, knocking the man to the ground and leaving him unconscious and bleeding and with a neck injury.

Additionally, John Shevlino, 18, of Spar Avenue, is charged with assault, accused of kicking the man’s 38-year-old mother in the face, leaving her with lacerations, a broken jaw, and a momentary loss of consciousness, Stocco said. Shevlino was arrested shortly after the incident.
