Toms River police are searching for an 18-year-old Beachwood man in connection with an assault early Friday morning on a Toms River woman and her 18-year-old son that left him unconscious and bleeding and both needing medical treatment.
Chad Andresen, 18, of Pacific Avenue, is accused of sucker-punching the man in the back of the head, Toms River Police spokesman Ralph Stocco said, knocking the man to the ground and leaving him unconscious and bleeding an with a neck injury.

The incident occurred when a fight broke out about 1 a.m. in the area of Haines Road and Cedar Drive, Stocco said. Police were called and found a large crowd and two victims -- the 18-year-old and his mother -- on the ground, he said, needing medical attention.
Stocco said investigators determined Andresen and Shevlino and the rest of the group, who all knew each other, had been drinking in Bayville for much of the day and arrived in Toms River about 11:30 p.m. They continued to drink there, at the street end by the river.

About 1 a.m. the acquaintances began to argue and fight, and that is when Andresen allegedly punched the man, Stocco said. As the man’s mother tried to intervene, Shevlino allegedly punched her and threw her to the ground before kicking her in the face, Stocco said.
Both Shevlino and Andresen fled on foot, he said. Shevlino was apprehended nearby and arrested. He is charged with one count of aggravated assault and is being held in lieu of $2,500 bail.
Andresen, also charged with one count of aggravated assault and with bail of $2,500, is still at large, Stocco said.
Anyone with information on this case or the whereabouts of Andresen is urged to call the Toms River Police Department at 732-349-0150. Detective James Carey is conducting the investigation and can be reached at police extension 1292, Stocco said.
