Man Stole Money From Toms River Resident Using Fraudulent Debit Card, Authorities Say

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River police are seeking the public's help identifying a man sought in connection with a credit card fraud investigation.

The man, seen in surveillance photos and video shared by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, is accused of unlawfully using a debit card belonging to a Toms River resident.

The suspect is described as 18 to 21 years old, with dark hair styled in a bowl cut. He is 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 and has a thin build, authorities said.

The debit card fraud happened April 18 at an ATM machine in the Upper Montclair area and at the Menlo Park Mall later the same day, authorities said.

Authorities warned residents to protect their personal information to avoid fraud.

"Exercise due caution when receiving calls purportedly from banking institutions — even if the call appears to be from your own bank," the prosecutor's office and Toms River police said.

"If you are uncertain as to the validity of the call, hang up and call the phone number on the back of your credit/debit card to speak with your financial institution directly, or go to a local branch during regular operating hours," they said.
