A motorcyclist and two people riding an all-terrain vehicle were injured in a pair of crashes that happened about an hour apart in Toms River Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Marc Cappuccino, 20, of Toms River, who was the passenger on the ATV, was the most seriously injured and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, for treatment, Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River police department, said.

Fobian was injured in a crash at the intersection of Fischer Boulevard and Wake Forest Drive that happened about 3:30 p.m., Stocco said. He was southbound on Fischer on a 2005 Harley Davidson when a 2002 Cadillac Escalade driven by James Mottola, 73, of Toms River, pulled onto Fischer Boulevard in front of Fobian from a parking lot, he said. Fobian tried to swerve but still hit the Escalade, Stocco said.
Traffic Officer Mark Nater is conducting the investigation into that crash, he said.
While police were still dealing with the motorcycle crash, the ATV crash occurred on Route 37 about 4:30 p.m.
In that incident, Susan Mazzella, 68, of Matawan, was southbound on Northampton Boulevard in a Jeep, trying to turn onto Route 37, when Tomasello drove a 2000 Yamaha quad, with Cappuccino on the back, through a red light, causing the crash, Stocco said.
Tomasello was charged with traveling through a red light and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver’s license. The crash is being investigated by Traffic Officer Robert Westfall, he said.
As a result of these incidents traffic was slowed for several hours at both locations, he said.
