Nor'easter Could Hit Jersey Shore This Weekend

Heavy downpours, flooding and strong winds could impact the region.

The first “big” storm of the hurricane season to hit New Jersey could hit this weekend, a nor’easter bringing heavy rains, strong winds and possible flooding.

The storm could primarily impact southern New Jersey, from Monmouth and Mercer counties to the south.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying rain should arrive on Friday and Saturday. Rip Currents at the Jersey Shore are likely.

“It’s a summertime nor’easter with wind gusts up to 30 mph on Saturday. The rip current risks are going to be moderate to high,” Lance Franck, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, Mount Holly station, told app.com.

Philly.com and NBCPhiladelphia said that forecast models show the potential for a nor’easter, a strong storm that will be moving slowly and bring significant rain not only to the Shore, but all the way to the Philadelphia area.
