Ocean County To Honor Sept. 11 Anniversary With Wreath-Laying

The annual ceremony honors the lives of those lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Ocean County Board of Freeholders will hold its annual Sept. 11 Day of Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The ceremony is set for 8:30 a.m. at the Sept. 11 Memorial in the courtyard between 119 and 129 Hooper Avenue, Toms River.

Ocean County Freeholder Director Virginia E. Haines will be the master of ceremonies, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer will speak and the Ocean County Vocational Technical School Performing Arts Academy choir will perform.

Wreaths will be placed at the Sept. 11 Memorial and also at the memorial listing the military personnel from Ocean County lost during the War on Terror.

Nearly 3,000 people died in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the crash of United Flight 93, which was brought down in the Pennsylvania countryside before it could reach its intended target.
