A few years ago We Had Brought our beautiful Yorkie for grooming at the Toms River PetSmart while our dog was being groomed the groomer motioned for me to come into the room where the groomer showed me she cut her hand with the sissors and said she had to get a band aid and had to stop to tend to her hand. She took our dog with her in the back room and returned to the room a couple of minutes later with our dog still in her arms handed the dog to another groomer and placed a bandaid on her hand then continued with our dogs hair cut. When she was done with our dog. We took her home a few days later my wife was giving our dog a bath an noticed a clump of hair had fallen off the dog in the bottom of the bathtub then was blow drying the dog and she had noticed half the dogs ear was missing. She rushed her to our vet, and after a through exam . Said her ear cut off was not from another animal bite it was from a instrument like a sharp sisssor she said it was a clean cut. After we approached the store manager who was very nasty to us after accusing one of their employees of covering up this horibble act cutting off our dogs ear and denying they would do something like that. After through research we had done we found out the places like PetSmart use surgical glue to stop bleeding and glued our dogs ear back on, if that women who took care of dogs had told us what really happened we could have taken our dog to our vet and possibly had the ear attached through surgery and she would not be disformed to this day. Places like this she be put out of business and the people involved should be prosecuted to the fulliest extent of the law. But after taking this matter to court, we were only awarded a small amount of money and told by the court that's the best they can do because an animal is considered a piece of property not like a humanbeing. Well the laws should be change for future situations like this. Now we are very fearful of taking our dogs to other grooming places like this.
