Pine Shores Spring Art Show
PSAA's annual judged Spring Art Show will feature more than 60 works by area artists. The public is invited to view this show throughout May
It's been a cold, drab spring but Pine Shores Art Association is brimming with color in their Spring Art Show. More than sixty paintings by PSAA's talented members were submitted for consideration in one of two annual shows offering cash awards to participating artists. Fourteen different awards were given out this year. This year's judge is Tim Gaydos. Tim has received over two hundred awards in state and national exhibitions, most notably the American Watercolor Society Gold Medal of Honor. He has shown in the New Jersey Arts Annual, the New Jersey State Biennial and the National Academy of Design Annual a total of six times. In 2006, he was awarded a Fellowship Grant for painting by the New Jersey State Council of the Arts.
A crowd of nearly 100 artists and friends gathered for the Awards ceremony. Guest Judge Tim Gaydos chose Ray Moran's Piazza, as Best in Show and winner of a $100 prize. There were also four $50 cash prizes and Merit Ribbons awarded to Linda Coulter for her pastel portrait, The Wonder of Bubbles; Ed Renner for his gouache, A Time Past; Janet Nelson'swhimsical acrylic, A Colorfowl Gathering; and Pat Shepherd's collage, Hope and Change. Four additional Merit awards with $25 cash prizes were given for Jennifer LaVeglio's colored pencil drawing, Rediscovered Trust; Nancy Camilleri's pastel portrait, Study in Red; Danny Ng's acrylic, At Dawn; and Robert Novak's Adirondack Summer.
In addition to the judging by Mr. Gaydos, there were four special awards given. The Franken Frames Award and a $100 gift certificate went to Jan Becker for gouache, Sedona. The Tom Rutledge Award for Realism and $100 prize was given to Lisa Budd for her oil painting, Evening in Philly. The final prize was the Artists' Choice award and $25 prize chosen by the PSAA members, which went to Nancy Edwards's watercolor of pelicans, Love at First Site.
