Road Closures, Detours, Delays: Ocean County Commuter Forecast For Feb. 6

Take a look at these construction projects that could affect your daily travel this week.

If you are traveling around Ocean County, here is a list of areas where construction projects may disrupt your travels this week. In some cases you might want to choose another route to avoid backups, especially around peak travel times.

Some of these projects are short-term; others are long-term projects. In all cases work may be disrupted by bad weather.

The information comes from the Ocean County commuter forecast and may not include all road projects. If you know of a road project that isn't included here, email karen.wall@patch.com with the information and we'll add it to the list.

IN TOMS RIVER:

ROUTE 166, Old Freehold Road to Highland Parkway: Expect lane shifts at Route 37 and Old Freehold Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for underground utility relocation. This is part of the ongoing work at the site. The project is anticipated to be completed in June 2018.

EAST WATER STREET, Hooper Avenue to Dock Street: Expect a 24-hour road closure and detour for stormwater improvements.

MATHIS BRIDGE/ROUTE 37 EASTBOUND: Expect delays on the Tunney Bridge, which is carrying one lane of eastbound traffic through mid-May while crews work on bridge deck replacement on the Mathis Bridge. The Mathis Bridge will reopen to eastbound traffic for the summer of 2017 approximately May 15.

IN BRICK:

GARDEN STATE PARKWAY INTERCHANGE 91, Herborn Avenue, Burnt Tavern Road, Lanes Mill Road, and Burrsville Road: Expect lane and shoulder closures with changing traffic patterns due to the ongoing construction of northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps, and road widening. The project is anticipated to be completed in June. THIS WEEK: Burnt Tavern Road from Byron Road to The Boulevard will have lane and shoulder closures with lane shifts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

IN LAKEWOOD:

COUNTY LINE ROAD AT SOMERSET AVENUE: Expect a detour in the westbound lanes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for traffic light upgrades. The project is anticipated to be completed in April.

IN JACKSON:

WEST VETERANS HIGHWAY, Whitesville Road to Siena Drive: Expect shoulder closures with lane shifts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for road widening and curb installation. The project is anticipated to be completed in May.

IN SOUTHERN OCEAN COUNTY:

ROUTE 72 CAUSEWAY BRIDGE, Stafford Township and Ship Bottom: Expect lane and shoulder closures for ongoing bridge reconstruction and deck repair, through May 2017.

LONG BEACH BOULEVARD AT 71ST STREET, Long Beach Township: Expect lane and shoulder closures with lane shifts for construction work on stormwater outfall improvements. The work is anticipated to be completed soon.
