Rock The River Raising Funds For Kids With Brain Cancer

The event is going on in Toms River's Huddy Park through Saturday evening and raises funds to help families of children with brain cancer.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Huddy Park is hopping on Saturday, with music groups, vendors, food trucks and more at the Rock the River festival, raising funds for the Little by Little Foundation, which assists families of children battling brain cancer.

The event is scheduled to go through 9 p.m. The musical line-up, headlined by David Cook, is scheduled to include rock & roll band Cowboy Mouth from New Orleans; New York City rocker Sophia Ramos; progressive math funk collective RedRightReturn; Asbury Park funkateers Waiting on Mongo, and Toms River's own 18th & Addison.

Breakdancers, live graffiti art, a retro-style photobooth, kids entertainment are part of the daylong festival.

Tickets are $40 and are available at the gate. Children age 7 or younger are admitted free.

Every dollar raised at Rock the River will be distributed directly to families in need through the Little by Little Foundation. The nonprofit was created by Mike Maguire to honor the memory of his wife, Kim, a Toms River resident who died of brain cancer in 2017 less than two years after being diagnosed with glioblastoma.

"Through the Little by Little Foundation, Kim Maguire's giving spirit is kept alive by helping individual families in financial hardship due to childhood brain cancer treatment," the organization said.

In less than two years, more than $125,000 has been distributed directly to families in need.

Parking is free in downtown Toms River on Saturdays.
