Route 166 Closure Coming Thursday Night In Toms River: NJDOT

The closure will allow the contractor to move barriers to allow construction of the center median barrier.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Motorists need to be prepared for Route 166 to be closed Thursday night for a traffic shift to accommodate the next stage of work on the widening project at Route 37.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation said beginning at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, Route 166 will be closed from Route 37 north to Old Freehold Road while the contractor, New Prince Concrete, moves barriers, restripes the road and reopens James Street. The closure is scheduled to be in place until 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30.

Currently, there is a work zone in the northbound lanes. After the shift is in place, there will be a center work zone with a single outer lane in each direction, allowing drainage system improvements to be expedited, and the construction of a center median.
