Route 37 Tunney Bridge Lane Closures Planned In Toms River: NJDOT

Maintenance and repairs to the deck of the Route 37 bridge westbound into Toms River will last for a few weeks, officials said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Maintenance work with lane closures is scheduled to begin Monday on the J. Stanley Tunney Bridge on Route 37 west into Toms River, state officials announced Friday.

The left lane of the westbound bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays for a few weeks, the state Department of Transportation said. The center lane may be closed as necessary at the same time.

At least one lane will be maintained at all times, officials said.

"Motorists on Route 37 westbound/Tunney Bridge are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays," the statement said. Traffic eastbound on Route 37 over the Mathis Bridge will not be affected.

This work is part of the $9.6 million statewide Drawbridge Preventative Maintenance Contract. Work was done on the Tunney Bridge in 2022 under this contract as well.
