No Christmas Tree Collection At Island Beach State Park This Year
Island Beach State Park said they will not be accepting recycled Christmas trees at this time due to coronavirus concerns for volunteers.

ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, NJ — Island Beach State Park announced Monday they will not be accepting recycled Christmas trees this year due to coronavirus concerns for the large amount of volunteers involved.
In previous years, discarded Christmas trees were lined up across the beach to capture blown sand and help build dunes. Volunteers also fenced in the dunes to keep pedestrians away and trap sand.
“Unfortunately IBSP will not be collecting Christmas tress this year due to COVID-19 concerns. Our Christmas tree recycling / dune replenishment program requires an enormous volunteer effort to be successful,” IBSP wrote on Facebook.

Over 2,000 Christmas trees were donated to IBSP after the holiday season in 2019.
For this year, IBSP urged people to donate their trees to other Ocean County parks seeking Christmas tree donations.
