Search For Suspect In Fatal Wawa Shooting At The Jersey Shore Continues

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Authorities were continuing to search on Sunday for a Toms River man charged with murder in a fatal shooting at Wawa on Friday.

Douglas Cobb, 51, has been charged with murder in the shooting that killed Bruce Gress, 42, of Toms River, on Friday morning at the Wawa at the corner of Route 37 and Garfield Avenue, authorities have said.

Cobb, also known as Douglas Green, who goes by the nickname "Bootknock," was last seen leaving the Wawa driving a black 2016 Acuram MDX with New Jersey license plate T93YJL, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

On Sunday, investigators were canvassing the McKinley Avenue neighborhood where Cobb's home is located, seeking surveillance videos, a source told Patch, and a search warrant was executed at his home, the source said.

The Toms River Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and SWAT officers were on the scene, the source said.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office did not respond to a request for comment on the search on Sunday.

Cobb, also known as Douglas Green and by the nickname "Bootknock," was last seen driving a black 2016 Acuram MDX with New Jersey license plate T93YJL, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

He has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and being a certain person not to possess a weapon, the prosecutor's office said.

Toms River police found Gress with a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. Emergency medical personnel responded and Gress was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was pronounced dead, the prosecutor's office said.
