Seaside's Hydrus Coaster Stuck Briefly: Report

Eight people were safely evacuated, the report said.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ -- A car on the Hydrus roller coaster on Casino Pier got stuck with passengers early Wednesday evening, according to a report.

Jersey Shore Hurricane News reported the incident happened about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday as the car was making its initial ascent.

The site reported there were eight passengers aboard at the time. According to a statement from Casino Pier spokeswoman Maria Mastoris, the eight people were safely evacuated from the ride and escorted to the ground. There was no indication in the report of what caused the car to get stuck.

"Safety is the top priority of the amusement park and attractions industry," the site quoted Mastoris as saying. "Delivering the highest level of safety is fundamental to our industry’s existence and is a part of every facet of our operation, including the design, manufacture, maintenance, inspection, and operation of our attractions."
