Severe Thunderstorms, Hail Begin N.J. July 4th Weekend Forecast
The National Weather Service says the July 4th weekend may have severe thunderstorms and hail, and some towns are delaying fireworks.
The weekend at the beach could be nice. But the drive there may not be.
The July 4th weekend will begin with severe thunderstorms and hail, according to forecasters.
Some towns, such as South Brunswick, are postponing their fireworks displays because of the forecast. South Brunswick's is delayed until Saturday.

The NWS has issued a "Hazardous Weather Outlook," saying that all of New Jersey is at risk for severe thunderstorms on Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday morning.

Heavy rain, damaging winds and "large hail" are possible, leading to localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas, according to the NWS. There is even a small risk of tornadoes.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 a.m. Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a 10th and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind around 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.
Independence Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.
Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
