Support Groups and Programs Offered at Community Medical Center
Community Medical Center offers a variety of support groups for individuals coping with disease or the loss of a loved one.
Community Medical Center, a RWJBarnabas Health facility, recognizes that patients benefit from social support when coping with a disease or the loss of a loved one. Support groups are offered monthly and held in the Riverwood 1 Building at 67 Route 37 West, Toms River, unless otherwise noted.

A Circle of Moms Support Group - May 2 & 16, 10 am
A Circle of Moms is a safe, welcoming space for mothers to share their experiences – the joys, the challenges, the solutions and the not-so-easy parts. If you are experiencing breast feeding issues, mood swings, or find becoming a mom harder than you thought it would be, you are not alone. A lending library with helpful resources for moms is also available. To register, call 732.557.8037.

Breast Cancer Support Group – Wednesday, April 27 at 5 pm
This support group for those with breast cancer meets on the last Wednesday on every month at 5 pm in the Radiation Oncology Department at Community Medical Center. For more information, call 732-557-8000, extension 11303.
Caregivers Support Group & Individual Counseling – Monday, May 23 at 7 pm
Individuals acting as caregivers face unique challenges. This counseling service is available to assist those dealing with the responsibilities associated with being a caregiver to cope with their role. Free individual caregivers counseling is also available. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 732-557-3272.
Diabetes Insulin Pump Support Group - Tuesday, May 17 at 7 pm
This free, professionally-run support group offers education and mutual support for those with diabetes who wear an insulin pump or are considering one. Call 732-557-3210.

Mondays, April 25 - May 16 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Tuesdays, April 19 - May 10 from 1- 3 pm
Fridays, April 22 - May 13 from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Mondays, May 23 – June 13 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Tuesdays, May 17 – June 7 from 1- 3 pm
Fridays, May 20 – June 10 from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
This four session education program focuses on what diabetes is, how it affects your body and understanding what you can eat to maintain good blood sugars.
To attend you will need to bring a prescription from your physician and your insurance information. You may bring a guest with you at no additional charge. Call 732-349-5757.
Diabetes Support Group - Monday, May 16 at 1:30 pm
This free monthly support group helps people with diabetes learn how to become self-sufficient in the daily management of the disease. Each month, the group discusses a different topic relevant to individuals with diabetes. Call 732-557-3210.
Lung Cancer Support Group - Wednesday, April 27 at 2 pm
This support group for individuals with lung cancer meets in Community Medical Center’s Radiation Oncology Department. For more information, call 732-557-8270.
Nu-Voice Support Group (Laryngectomy Support Group) – April 25, May 2, May 9, May 16, May 23 and May 30 at 10 am

Perinatal Loss Support Group – Wednesday, April 27, 7 – 9 pm
The loss of a child is a very difficult time for parents and many people find that participating in a support group with others who have shared this experience can be very helpful. While everyone experiences loss in their own way it is important to talk to others who understand the loss. Our support group offers a safe place to share our feelings. An experienced registered nurse will lead the group. Pre-registration is required. Call 732.557.8037.
