Teens set fire in woods near Toms River school

Dog-walkers and others witnessed 3 teenagers from Brick leaving scene in Silverton; high wind gusts could have led to a major wildfire

Police were called to investigate a report of three teenagers from Brick starting a fire in a wooded area next to Silver Bay Elementary School on Monday afternoon. Witnesses included local teens who identified the alleged perpetrators.

The fire was extinguished by a Toms River adult who had been walking his dog in the woods. Winds gusts at the time were up to 50 MPH.
