Toms River Accepting Youth Police Camp Applications
Due to expected high interest in the camp, participants will be chosen via a lottery, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Police Department is accepting applications for its 2017 Youth Police Camp for middle school-aged students who want an inside look at what it's like to be a police officer.
Eligible participants must be Toms River residents and enrolled in current grades 6, 7, and 8. They will get to ride in police cars, use specialized police equipment, learn self-defense tactics, and participate physical agility exercises. They will also have exposure to the motorcycle unit, EMS Ambulance, SWAT team, fire suppression vehicles, obstacle course and more.
The camp is free, however each participant must provide their own lunch, drinks, and appropriate clothing for the week. (Shorts and white tee shirt.) Police Youth Camp is from July 10 to July 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is the third year of the police campm and because of the high number of applicants, selection will be made by lottery, officials said.
Applications can be picked up at police headquarters, and the deadline is April 30, 2017. Please direct all questions to pslaven@trpolice.org. Phone inquiries will not be returned.
