The game will raise funds to assist Officer Brett Hansen as he continues to recover from a Jan. 4 car crash.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Hockey-playing police officers from the Camden County Police Department will lace up their skates and take on a team of police officers from the Toms River Police Department to raise funds to assist Officer Brett Hansen.

Hansen, 28, continues to recover from severe injuries suffered in an off-duty car crash Jan. 4 on the Garden State Parkway. He has been with the Toms River police force since August 2015. His parents, Lisa and Jim, posted a GoFundme campaign earlier this week to raise funds to cover medical bills that exceed his insurance.

Hansen worked for the Camden County Police Department before joining the Toms River force.
