Toms River Dental Office Damaged By Blaze (Video)

The fire at Toms River Family dental was extinguished quickly and damage was limited, fire officials said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A fire that damaged in a Toms River dental office on Thursday afternoon remains under investigation Friday morning.

Firefighters were called to Toms River Family Dental on Route 37 about 3 p.m. for a report of smoke and upon arrival found heavy fire in the foyer area of the office, according to an account from the Island Heights Volunteer Fire Company, which was one of the responding fire companies.

Chief Tim Zieser called a general alarm, and firefighters from all six Toms River companies fought the blaze and contained the fire to the foyer area, the Island Heights report said.

"Crews from all involved agencies went above and beyond in an all out team effort to bring this incident to a close," the report said. "The quick actions and tactical decisions mitigated what could have been a considerable loss."

East Dover Fire Company, Toms River Fire Company 1, Toms River Fire Company 2 and the Island Heights Volunteer Fire Company responded initially and were joined by the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department, and Ocean Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

District Chief Jim Golden and Capt. Gary Simone Jr. also were on site.

The Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention and Toms River Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire.

The East Dover Fire Company thanked a long list of companies that provided mutual aid as well.
