Toms River East Little Leaguers In Region Tournament: Monday Manual

The Toms River Township Council and the Zoning Board meet this week as well.

TOMS RIVER, NJ— Welcome to the Aug. 8 edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight events coming up during the week in the Toms River area.

Baseball continues to be the talk of the summer, this week with the Toms River East Little Leaguers playing in the Metro Region tournament in Bristol, Connecticut, with hopes of advancing to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Toms River East lost its opening game of the Metro Region on Saturday to Massapequa Little League of New York, 6-3, but bounced back Sunday evening with a victory over Rhode Island, 3-2, to stay alive in the double-elimination tournament. Toms River East next plays on Wednesday and will face the winner of the Connecticut-New York game that is set for Monday night.

The Toms River Township Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. The agenda is typically available by Tuesday evening.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment also meets this week, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. That agenda typically is available by Wednesday.

The Toms River Regional Board of Education is holding its committee meetings on Wednesday starting at 6 p.m. at the school district's administration offices at 1144 Hooper Ave. The meetings of the Budget & Finance, Buildings & Grounds and the Building & Grounds Referendum & ESIP committees of the whole will be livestreamed. The curriculum committee is scheduled to meet separately on Monday, Aug. 15, to allow for questions and comments regarding the district's plans to address the state's updated sex education curriculum.
