Toms River To Honor WOBM's Bob Levy With Street Name
The radio host and Ocean County icon died March 1, the day the station celebrated its 50th anniversary.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Bob Levy often joked that he would be forgotten when he was no longer alive. Toms River officials are taking steps to ensure that doesn't happen.
The WOBM radio host and icon, who died March 1, will be honored with a plaque on Robbins Street, after the Township Council approved a resolution last week. The plaque will designate the street as "Bob Levy Way."
It will honor "the memory, dedication of service to the public, and contributions to the community of the late Bob Levy for more than 50 years at the WOBM radio station he helped to build," and commemorate his service to the community.

Levy died at age 86 on the 50th anniversary of the station's first broadcast. He had worked for the station in a variety of positions, including general manager, and created the Sunday morning talk show "Topic A." In addition to helping to get Ocean County's first radio station off the ground, he helped ensure the station served its community in ways beyond the airwaves, with fundraising efforts and rallying the community to various causes.

A date and time for unveiling plaque will be set at a later date, his wife Marianne Levy, said in a post on Facebook.
