Toms River North Boys, Girls Sweep Soccer Section Championships
The Toms River East girls volleyball wins an NJSIAA section title; TR North football team advances to the NJSIAA sectional title game.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — It was a busy week for athletes at Toms River High School North, as the Mariners' boys and girls soccer teams won state sectional titles and the football team advanced to it sectional title championship.
The Mariners' teams weren't the only ones doing well: the Toms River East girls volleyball team to captured state sectional championship as well.
The Mariners' girls soccer team broke the game open in the second half of their victory in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4 championship, 6-1 over Gloucester County Institute of Technology, nj.com reported.
The Mariners' boys soccer team, meanwhile, had to go to a shootout to beat Cherokee for the South Jersey Group 4 title, nj.com reported.
Both teams advance to the NJSIAA Group 4 semifinals. The girls face Freehold Township at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Toms River North. The boys also face Freehold Township, but their game is scheduled for Tuesday. The time has not been set.
The Toms River North football team was clicking on all cylinders as it defeated Edison, 48-7, in the South Jersey Group 5 semifinals, nj.com reported. The Mariners are scheduled to face Kingsway at 6 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship.
For the Raiders' girls volleyball team, it was a hometown final in the South Jersey Group 3 championship, with Toms River East defeating Toms River South 2-0, according to nj.com. Shannon Donaway had six kills and Megan Currie tallied 16 assists in the victory. The team's stellar run ended, however, as Colts Neck edged Toms River East, 2-1, in the Group 3 semifinals, according to nj.com.
