Toms River Police Pros Vs. Heroes Charity Flag Football Event Set
The full day of fun begins with a poker run and ends with the flag football game and a chance to meet the players afterward.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Police Department is inviting residents and the surrounding community to its annual Pros vs. Heroes Charity Flag Football game on the beach in Seaside Heights.
The game is part of a full day of festivities, starting with the Hogs for Humanity Ride for the Child poker run and ending with the flag football game featuring members of the Toms River Police Department against former professional football players.
The day includes an NFL Play60 football clinic run by Toms River North graduate Darian Barnes of the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Bucanneers. There also will be a beach cheerleading clinic run by the Toms River East High School cheerleading team, which recently won a national competition.

Get started with the poker run, which begins with registration starting at 8 a.m. The run begins at Captain Hooks, 1320 Boulevard in Seaside Heights, at 9 a.m. and post-race activities are from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. It costs $15 per bike to register before May 12, and $20 per bike on May 12 or later. Extra passengers are $5 each to register. You can register onsite the day of the poker run.
From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the beach just north of Casino Pier, the NFL Play60 football clinic and the cheerleading clinic take place simultaneously. After the clinics, watch professional athletes, including former NFL players, and some of Toms River's finest dash across the sand and dodge the flying fingers as they try to grab flags in the flag football game. The event also is scheduled to include a special autograph signing session with former New York Giant Leonard Marshall.
Admission to the game is $5 for adults, and children ages 15 and younger get in free. Meet the players after the game as they will be interacting with the children and signing autographs.
In case of inclement weather, the rain date is Sunday, May 21.
