Toms River Recycling Facility Now Accepting Electronics

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River residents looking to recycle electronics can now take them to the Toms River Recycling Center.

The township has signed a contract with Reverse Logistics LLC, to recycle items such as computer screens and towers, laptops, and tablets, said Lou Amoruso, Director of Public Works.

“Due to a significant increase in e-waste disposal fees, the township stopped accepting recycled electronics on October 1, 2016," Amoruso said. Toms River residents had been forced to take those items to the Ocean County recycling facility in Lakewood.

Now, they can bring them to the township recycling center free of charge year-round, he said.

Electronic items may be dropped off at the Toms River Recycling Convenience Center, located at 1672 Church Road, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. t0 3 p.m.

“Recycling electronics not only conserves natural resources, but protects the environment from harmful toxins and saves landfill space," Toms River Council President Al Manforti said.

Electronics accepted for recycling at the township's facility are as follows:

• All televisions
• Computer monitors, all sizes and types
• Computer towers
• Laptops
• Tablets
