Toms River Schools Referendum Meetings Continue Thursday

District officials are continuing to meet with parents and residents to discuss plans to address infrastructure issues.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — In some schools have carpeting that dates back to the 1970s. There are science labs in the high schools that are 50 years old and have seen only minor updates.

Those were just some of the issues raised Tuesday night when Toms River Superintendent David Healy and Business Administrator William Doering spoke to parents and residents first at Silver Bay Elementary School and later at Toms River High School North about the district's Energy Savings Improvement Program and its plans for a large refereendum to address a number of critical issues at schools throughout the district.

Those meetings continue tonight, Thursday, Feb. 8, with meetings at West Dover Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. followed by one at Toms River High School South at 8 p.m.
