Toms River Schools Send Donations To Help Texas Students

The donations are part of the Shore 2 Help effort undertaken by the district and the township for Hurricane Harvey-stricken Beaumont.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — As part of the three-pronged effort to help the town of Beaumont, Texas, the Toms River Regional School District shipped gift cards collected from parents and staff in the district to Texas earlier this month.

The shipment of 65 gift cards was an initial wave of support from the school district as part of the Shore 2 Help effort announced by town leaders in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Toms River officials coordinated with Beaumont officials to find out what could be done to help the town hit by the hurricane in August.

The first package of gift cards totalled nearly $1,500, the district said.
