Toms River Set To Formally Reopen Ortley Beach Lifeguard House

Ribbon-cutting for Block House reopening, start to full staffing of beaches for summer.

Toms River, NJ -- Another sign of the rebirth of Ortley Beach will be christened today.

Nearly four years after Superstorm Sandy destroyed homes and businesses on the barrier island, residents of Ortley Beach and township officials will gather at the Block House for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new building.

The Block House, also known as the Ortley South Lifeguard Building, was destroyed during the storm.
