Toms River South Business Students Win 1st, 2nd At Georgian Court 'Shark Tank' Contest
The students polished their skills at making business pitches at the Georgian Court Lion's Den Pitch and Innovation competition.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Two teams of students from the Business Academy at Toms River High School South put their best lessons into practice recently, winning first and second place at the Georgian Court University's "Shark Tank"-style competition.
For the Lion’s Den Pitch and Innovation competition at Georgian Court, the students had to create a product, develop a business plan, and then pitch their ideas to a panel of collegiate judges, similar to the television show "Shark Tank."
The goal of the competition is to help the students develop essential skills in communicating ideas and working on a team. The students also received feedback from seasoned entrepreneurs, business people and business faculty on their pitches, which had to address one of the Sisters of Mercy Critical Concerns: Racism, Earth, Immigration, Non-Violence, and Women.
