Toms River Students Honored At Regional Science Fair
Lana Van Note and Isabella Onofrietti both received awards at the Delaware Valley fair.
TOMS RIVER, NJ -- A pair of students from Toms River Intermediate North were honored at the Delaware Valley Science Fair recently, according to a news release from the school district.
Lana Van Note, a seventh-grader, received a call-back to compete at the National Science Fair for her project, entitled "Which Polystyrene Can Microorganisms Biodegrade Most Effectively?"
Van Note's project received the pecialized Broadcom Master's Award, and a coveted call back to compete at the National Science Fair. Miss Van Note's project also placed 3rd overall in the category of Microbiology, and an Honorable Mention from the American Society of Microbiology.

Isabella Onofrietti won first place in zoology at the Stockton University Science Fair. She received a coveted invitation to present her project on human health to scientists of the organization with the nine others from sixth to 12th grade at a dinner held in their honor in June. At the Delaware Valley Science Fair, Isabella received a Special Award from the Parenteral Drug Association, an international non-profit industry trade group for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturers. She was awarded a cash prize, and a plaque. “
“In order for these students to present at the Delaware Valley Science Fair they first had to excel at the Toms River Regional Schools Science Fair and the Stockton University Science Fair," Intermediate North Principal Lynn Fronzak said.

“We are very proud of Isabella and Lana for their accomplishments,” Fronzak said.
