Townhomes OK'd For Route 70 Flea Market Site: Report
The flea market will find another home, after other approvals are in place, report says.

LAKEWOOD, NJ -- Townhouses and basement apartments -- a total of 332 units -- have been approved for the site of the Route 70 Auction & Flea Market, according to a report.
The Asbury Park Press report says the project was approved last week by the Lakewood Township Planning Board.
The project, which includes 166 townhouses, a clubhouse, retail and office space as well as the basement apartments, still needs approvals from the state for highway access and wetlands, the report said.

The flea market, which has been at the Route 70 site for 36 years, will be relocated, the Press report said, though it is unclear how soon that will happen.
The flea market has operated at the site, on Route 70 in Lakewood just east of Route 9, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday since 1979, according to the report.
