Traffic Signals Out Amid Large Power Outage In Toms River

The Ocean County Sheriff's Office is urging drivers to be cautious in the area.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Multiple traffic signals are out in Toms River on Wednesday morning due to a large-scale power outage, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office said.

More than 5,900 homes and businesses were without electric service, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

The outage was caused when a tree took down a wire south of Route 37 near the Garden State Parkway, said Christopher Hoenig, a spokesman for JCP&L.
