Breaking: The work is being done in conjunction with work by the Toms River MUA, the water company said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — If you're headed to or through Toms River tonight or Thursday night, avoid the area of Main and Washington streets.
Traffic is being diverted in the area as Suez works on a water main at the intersection.
Jane Kunka, a spokewoman for Suez, said the work by CRJ Contracting is being done from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. each night. The work began on Monday, she said, and is in conjuction with work by the Toms River Municipal Utilities Authority at the same location.

On Tuesday night police had Washington Street blocked at Robbins Street and Main Street blocked both north of the intersection and at the Water Street intersection.
