TOMS RIVER, NJ — The temperate fall weather has made for some good days on the water, especially for anglers trying to get in a few last trips fishing for striped bass.

That's what Vicki LaPinta and her husband of Toms River were doing on Friday when they encountered whales in the area.

"My husband and I went out of the Barnegat Inlet to do some striped bass fishing on this beautiful autumn day," she wrote in an email to Patch. "My husband spotted the whales and we kept a safe distance and watched their show for about 30 minutes." She shared video of the experience with Patch; you can watch it below.
