With the announcement Thursday that the retailer will close its doors at the mall after 41 years, there will be a big space to fill.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — What would you like to see come to the Ocean County Mall?
With Thursday's announcement by Sears Holdings that it will close the Sears at the mall after more than 41 years, it leaves Simon Properties, the owner of the mall, with a huge space to fill — more than 100,000 square feet of space.
In an era where retailers are continually downsizing due to shifting consumer attitudes and internet pressures, finding a retail store to fill that spot could be a challenge.
