Butler Police Find Crack Cocaine, Suspected Heroin in 'Lethargic' Man’s Car

Two men were arrested on multiple drug charges after said they found suspected heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside their vehicle on Dec. 26.

Zachary Pederson, 24, of Montague, was charged with possession of marijuana and controlled dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle in possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to maintain a lane. John Pazereckis, 48, of Port Jervis, NY, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, but was also discovered to have several outstanding warrants for his arrest totaling $4,537, police said.

Police were on routine patrol on Route 23 North at 3:37 p.m. when they said they saw a black Acura allegedly driving erratically on the highway. Once the vehicle was stopped and police approached Pederson, the driver, police said he allegedly appeared extremely lethargic and in a drug-induced state of mind. Police said Pazereckis, the front-seat passenger, also allegedly appeared to have fresh injection marks on his arms.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly found the drugs hidden.

Both men were transported to the Butler police station where they were unable to post bail, which was set at $10,000 each, and were sent to the Morris County Correctional Facility.
