The Nations Honor Society of Butler is holding a walk-a-thon

On Saturday, April 30, the members of the National Honor Society of Butler High School will be holding a walk-a-thon to raise money for Delaney Brown.
Two years ago, the then 2-year-old daughter of Bobby and Courtney Brown of Bloomingdale was diagnosed as having Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer. Since then, Delaney has been battling for her very life, and two months ago, she was diagnosed with "NED" - "no evidence of disease." But she is still under doctor's care and is still in the midst of a series of injections designed to fight the disease.
The Honor Society members decided that a Walk-a-thon would be a good way to raise money for the Brown family to help them meet the expenses of the many trips to the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York while helping the members of the Tri-boro area get healthy at the same time.
"We are asking people to show up at the track by Richard Butler School in Butler between noon and 4 p.m. on the 30th," explained NHS adviser Wayne Dilts. "We are asking for a $5 donation from every person who agrees to walk one mile, or four laps around the track." Donations will be collected by the NHS members at the track on the day of the event.
Anyone who wishes to donate but does not necessarily want to walk can send a check made out to "Butler High School" with the notation "Delaney Brown" on the memo line. Checks can be sent to Mr. Dilts at Butler High School, 38 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler NJ 07405 or dropped off in the high school main office.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled. For additional information, call Mr. Dilts at (973) 492-2000 extension 271.
