Guan Long Serves Chinese To Bloomingdale For 20 Years
Guan Long serves primarily take-out Chinese cuisine.
has been a staple of the Bloomingdale community for many years. Although Guan Long is primarily a take-out Chinese food restaurant, there are two tables inside for customers who are stopping in and would like to sit down and eat.
“I’ve been here 20 years… since 1991,” said Owner Chan Chung. When I visited the restaurant, Chung was busy preparing meals, as he has been since the restaurant opened. This family-owned and operated restaurant serves Bloomingdale seven days a week and will make exceptions to satisfy the customer’s needs.
Their menu includes the popular dishes you will find at other Chinese restaurants and they also have a section for the health-conscious, where the meals are steamed and the sauce is served on the side.

There is no MSG in any of their selections.
On this particular night, I ordered Steamed Dumplings ($4.75), Beef Lo Mein ($4.25) and the Boneless Sparerib Combination Platter ($7.50), which includes Pork Fried Rice and an egg roll.

The Steamed Dumplings had a nice flavor and the sauce served along with them gave the dumplings an extra zesty kick. The meat inside the dumplings was very tasty and the dumplings left me feeling fairly full before my meal.
The Beef Lo Mein I had ordered was intended for my meal. But when I got it, I felt that it lacked flavor and some of the beef tasted a bit chewy to me, which turned me off. Everything was cooked well and it appeared to be a typical lo main dish, however the flavor just was not there.
I had to steal a heap of Pork Fried Rice off of my guest’s plate to satisfy the rest of my hunger. The rice was different than your typical Chinese restaurant's and had a light, fluffy flavor that was quite enjoyable. My guest enjoyed the ribs and thought they were above average when compared with other local Chinese restaurants.
