Police: K9 Found Narcotics in Car on Route 23

Police said woman allegedly admitted to being addicted to pills.

A Nutley woman was arrested on drug charges on Jan. 23 in after a Pequannock Police Department K9 unit allegedly determined there were narcotics in her vehicle, including 20 pills of Naproxen, Opana and Oxycodone.

Kristin Daly, 23, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and issued summonses for use of a cell phone while driving, having an obstructed windshield and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

said Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg stopped the 2002 Subaru Daly was driving on Route 23 South because she was allegedly talking on her cell phone. Police said as the vehicle was stopping, Ehrenburg allegedly noticed Daly moving around in her vehicle, as if to hide something.

While speaking to Daly, police said Ehrenburg noticed a odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and Daly allegedly admitted to medicating and being addicted to prescription pills. The Pequannock Police Department K9 Unit responded and a search warrant was obtained for the car, at which point, police said the drugs were found. Police said they also found two cut straws with white residue in them.

Daly’s car was seized. She was released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
