Welcome to Tri-Boro Patch: A New Name For the Entire Community
Bloomingdale asked to be included in our name and we listened.

What's in a name? For Kinnelon-Butler Patch, it was more important what was not in our name.
Since December, we've been bringing you news, features, sports coverage and more of the boroughs of , and . But since December, Bloomingdale has gotten left in the dark in terms of recognition in the name of our site.
This was not for any particular rhyme or reason. Well, actually, Kinnelon-Butler-Bloomingdale Patch would have been seemingly long and also would have probably been a huge pain to type out in a URL bar (kinnelonbutlerbloomindale.patch.com).

Most recently, Bloomingdale resident Greg Tuck pointed this out to me while at The Salvation Army Star Lake Lodge. "How come Bloomingdale isn't in the name when a lot, if not most, of your coverage comes from Bloomingdale?" he asked. Sorry to blow up your spot, Greg, but you were right. Tri-boro is a fairly general term and could essentially apply to any cluster of three boroughs, but to our tri-boro, it means a little more. The Little League team that includes children from all three boroughs is called . Until the organization divides, the organization that protects and cares for animals in need in our area is called . Perhaps most importantly, the first aid squad that saves lives of the residents in our three boroughs is called Tri-boro First Aid Squad. What better word is there to sum up the three boroughs than tri-boro?
People change their name most commonly when they get married. Well, it's not like Kinnelon-Butler Patch married Bloomingdale—we've been married all along. But let me be the first to say, we're sorry, Bloomingdale, for not including you in our name from the beginning. We hope that residents in all three boroughs appreciate our new, all-encompassing name with our not-so-new mission to cover the news, faces and places of all three boroughs to our greatest ability.
