'Woof' Down Some Dogs At RT’s Dawghouse
For high quality, fresh, and tasty hot dogs, stop on in to RT's Dawghouse.
This May will be two years has been serving the area with their specialty hot dogs, fresh cut fries and other quick bites. Owner Rich Forbes put in many years at Barnes and Noble and Morgan Stanley when he had a vision for RT’s Dawghouse.
“Our menu is real simple and it tastes good. Everything is fresh, I have one freezer and one refrigerator-there is no way around it, it’s gotta be fresh,” he said. The vegetables are prepared daily and cooked to order.
Stopping in on a Tuesday night, the menu was easy to read and everything was prepared as we ordered it. I ordered the Cheese Steak ($7.95) and my guest had a Double Italian Hot Dog all the way ($7.50) and we shared a large order of French fries ($6.75).

The fries were fresh cut and served hot. There is nothing like the taste of fresh cut French fries.
The first thing I noticed when taking a bite into the Cheese Steak was the bread. This was one of the best rolls I have had in a long time. Looking back by the register I noticed a sign proudly read, “Our bread is baked and shipped fresh daily from a coal-fire brick oven in Brooklyn.” You can taste the difference. The blend of red and green peppers that sat on my sandwich had a fresh taste and added a nice touch to the Cheese Steak.

The meat products are made by Thumann’s and only 100 percent soy oil is used. There is no cholesterol, no trans fats and no MSG, Forbes said.
RT’s Dawghouse has a loyal following. I met customer Alex DiCarlo, who once ate five dogs all the way in one sitting, along with chili cheese fries. He decided to stop in about two years ago while working at Home Depot.
“I figured I would give it a try and I am here all the time. I love the friendliness and comfortable atmosphere and I prefer mine all the way… with chili!”
His friend Chris Marra chimed in, “Oh you gotta have them all the way, they are the best… and don’t forget the fries.”
The food speaks for itself. RT’s Dawghouse is not just a road stand along the highway, it is a place to gather with friends and family and enjoy a good old-fashioned hot dog. RT’s Dawghouse is open seven days a week, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
