1300 Essex County Residents Show Up For Hazardous Waste Collection Day

The event allowed Essex County residents to safely dispose of pesticides, motor oil, paint, fluorescent light bulbs and other materials.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — More than 1,300 Essex County residents safely disposed of a range of hazardous chemicals during the county’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day in Cedar Grove on Saturday, officials say.

The event - organized by the Essex County Utilities Authority - was open to all Essex County residents, who were invited to dispose of pesticides, motor oil, paint, fluorescent light bulbs and other household materials in an “environmentally friendly way,” officials stated.

Throughout the day, 1,365 residents brought material to be recycled at the event, officials said.

The county will host its annual Computer and Electronics Recycling Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, next to the old Hospital Center at 125 Fairview Avenue in Cedar Grove.
