Annual 'Swimathon' In Cedar Grove Will Benefit Local Family

Local woman battles breast cancer; Learn how to help here.

The Cedar Grove Splash summer swim team will sponsor its annual “Swimathon” on Monday, July 6, from 8 to 10 p.m., at the town pool.

The proceeds from this year’s Swimathon will benefit the Nesto family of Cedar Grove.

According to a release, Nick and Dawn Nesto have been active members of the Cedar Grove swim team parent leadership committee, and their daughters Summer and Madison have been swimming on the team for several years.

Dawn Nesto has been battling Stage 3 breast cancer since her diagnosis in August of 2014. She has been undergoing aggressive treatment including chemotherapy, double mastectomy surgery, and radiation. She will have a second surgery scheduled for the end of the year.

The public may donate to the Nesto family by attending the Swimathon, or by sending a check to the Cedar Grove Swim Team c/o Joyce San Roman, 19 Lakewood Avenue, Cedar Grove, NJ, 07009.

Donations will be collected throughout the month of July and the final total will be presented to the Nesto family at the swim team’s end of season party on Thursday, July 30.
